PEMBROKE, ON: Streetlight Theatre Company (STC) is very pleased to report on the completion of a project at their new studio as a result of the renovations funded by the Ontario Trillium Foundation Capital Grant in the amount of $108,000 over a year.

Recognizing the grant, the MPP for Renfrew, Nipissing, Pembroke John Yakabuski stated: “The Streetlight Theatre Company’s newly renovated space, made possible by the Ontario Trillium Foundation, designated to theatre and the preforming arts, is a welcomed addition in our community.”

“This investment by the Ontario Trillium Foundation has allowed Streetlight Theatre Company to retrofit the former TV station studio (now a Bell Media location) on TV Tower Road. In doing so, the newly dedicated space will allow Streetlight Theatre Company to invite diverse community members to become actively involved in all aspects of theatre and to promote the performing arts”, says Kyle Gleason, President of STC.

Renovations to the studio area at the Bell Media location included removal of existing walls; reframing of a production area; addition of a barrier-free accessible washroom and entrances; installation of emergency lighting; construction of an elevated stage and other necessary theatre accommodations.

“These renovations to the new home of STC on TV Tower Road mark the beginning of a new and exciting chapter in the history of Streetlight Theatre Company”, says Karen Keels, Past President of STC. “The impact of this Ontario Trillium Foundation grant has allowed STC to offer more affordable programming and opportunities, promoting involvement in the arts from a young age. We are truly grateful to our community partner Bell Media and all of our Streetlight Theatre Community members and supporters”, concludes Keels.

The Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) is an agency of the Government of Ontario, and one of Canada’s leading granting foundations. OTF awarded more than $115 million to 644 projects last year to build healthy and vibrant communities in Ontario.

Streetlight Theatre Company (STC) is a non-profit organization based in Pembroke, Ontario.
Founded in 2008, STC has produced plays and musicals involving community members of all ages, for audiences across the Ottawa Valley.
