WHITEWATER REGION (Cobden) — The 20th annual Cobden Terry Fox Walk will be held at Logos Land on Sunday, Sept. 17.
The trails will be marked and ready to go by 11 a.m. and the walk continues until 3 p.m.
There is water, fruit, and snacks available and a BBQ for the participants. The two chefs are, again, Civitans Don Helferty and Don Rathwell.
“We are always grateful for their continued help each year,” noted organizer Bonnie Helferty.
This will be Cobden’s 20th year to participate, she said.
“In the past 19 years, while we have raised $106,443.16, we have had a lot of fun and fellowship at the walk,” she said.
The walk has become an annual fall tradition for many of the participants which is awesome to see, Ms. Helferty noted.
It is not necessary to get pledges, just give a personal donation and enjoy the day with your friends and neighbours.
This year the walk is dedicated to Patsy Moore, who, as an individual, participated with friends and relatives over the past 19 years. She worked hard at getting sponsors, and in her last years, she participated even when she did not feel the best. She gave it her all, and never gave up, what an inspiration.
Ms. Moore died on March 1, 2017.
“We are going to have a Pink Balloon launch at about 12:15 p.m. in her honour,” Ms. Helferty said, adding, “I am hoping we attract a few new people that day, who perhaps would like to participate in our special time for Patsy.
“She was a remarkable lady, and I know I will always have a special place in my heart for her.”
Logos Land is a fantastic place to have the walk, she said. We truly appreciate the hospitality of the Paxtons to allow our group to be there for the day! So come one, come all,
Enjoy the last of the Summer Sunshine and the beginning of fall.
Let’s Keep Terry’s dream alive!!
