The Cobden Terry Fox walk at Logos Land on September 18th received over 60 donations totaling to an amount of $4,950
Rainy skies threatened the event, but only began to pour before 2pm.
The event ran from 11 am to 3pm.
Bonnie Helferty of Helferty Insurance organized the walk.
This is the 42nd Annual Terry Fox Run, which donates for cancer research, named after the Canadian Athlete who ran to raise awareness for cancer research before his death from knee cancer.
Governor General of Canada Mary Simon sent this letter for the Terry Fox Run:
“It is a pleasure to convey greetings to all participants across Canada in the 42nd Terry Fox Run. As we mourn the passing of our late Sovereign, Queen Elizabeth the Second, let’s take some time to remind ourselves how she believed in service to her people above all, and inspired so many with her dedication to the Crown.
Her generous support of charitable causes, including cancer research, helped shine a light on the important work, making a considerable difference in the lives of millions with advancements in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer.
Thank you for your participation today in the Terry Fox Run in support of this beautiful cause.
Terry Fox’s example of dedication, compassion and selflessness, will also forever remain an important part in our country’s history.
I wish everyone a wonderful run.”
