WHITEWATER REGION (Cobden) — The Annual General Meeting (AGM) for the Cobden Agricultural Society was held on Tuesday night at the Agricultural Hall. Each committee presented reports from the past year and are all optimistic about growing numbers and profits in 2020. According to some reports, they are well underway.
A special mention was given to their summer student, Emma Prange, who helped out in the office. President Steve Schultz, who will remain in the position for 2020, described her work as exceptional, saying she was a great addition to the team and hopes the society can keep her on for a few more years.
The motion was carried to appoint new directors for a three year term. They are John O’Gorman, Steve Schultz, Zabrina Bielaskie, Brian Burwell and Zoey McMaster. After the adjournment of the public portion of the annual meeting an election was had. It was chaired by Brian Hamilton and resulted in Steve Schultz bring elected as President, Megan Lariviere as Vice President and Meredith Mulligan as Second Vice President for this year’s Officers.
A special mention was given to Vera and Stewart McBride, as they have both resigned for 2020. All members expressed their thanks and gratitude for everything they have each contributed over the years and are hopeful they’ll still lend a helping hand every once in a while. Laughter, smiles and hugs were exchanged as Mrs. Lariviere presented Vera with a small token of appreciation for all of her hard work in the kitchen.
