Thunder girls hockey team raise $1,000

The Thunder Girls Bantam Hockey team hit the ice for their first home game this Sunday, Sept. 28 against Nepean at 1 p.m. Home games are mostly played at the Astrolabe Arena in Cobden.
The 15 girls are coached by Kirk Spence with assistant coaches Dan Shields and Tom Patrick with Lori St.Cyr as trainer and Andrea McIntyre and Marianne Bourgeois doing the dryland fitness training.
Team members, who are 13 to 15 years old, come from throughout the Ottawa Valley.
On Saturday, the girls and volunteers organized a bottle drive. While all the numbers weren’t in, they expected to raise about $1,000.
