WHITEWATER REGION (Beachburg) — The 162nd Beachburg Fair was a success, even with the rain on Saturday evening. Thousands of people came to the fairgrounds last weekend, and while Sunday was a little slower, it did not stop attendees from having fun.

Children and adults alike filled the midway and waited in line for their turn on the variety of rides. The large crowd gathered on Friday night for the dance party, which is a highlight of the weekend for some.

Saturday, again, drew the vast crowds for the Freestyle Motocross and Monster Truck events. These took place at different intervals throughout the day.

At the Beachburg Agricultural Society’s Food Booth, Mayor Mike Moor, Reeve Cathy Regier, Councillor Chris Olmstead and Councillor Daryl McLaughlin were seen serving fair attendees. Mayor Moore even showcased his expert skills on the grill.

The Discovery Barn was available all weekend and was aimed at introducing people, mainly children, to the animals.

Inside of Heritage Hall was decorated with the first, second, third and fourth place winners in a variety of event categories. Arts and crafts from children filled the upstairs, while downstairs was geared towards horticulture, such as vegetables, and assorted handmade articles.

Many volunteers came together to make the Beachburg Fair a successful event again this year. The Beachburg Fair has been an annual event in the community since 1857 and the first fair was held in the hotel of David Beach, the founder of Beachburg.
