RENFREW COUNTY (Pembroke) – On Wednesday September 4, at just after the noon hour, a member of the Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attempted to stop a vehicle in east-end Pembroke as the driver was suspected of driving while under suspension. The driver failed to stop for police and fled. The vehicle did stop for officers a short time later on Belmont Avenue.

Trevor James Reid, 25-years old of Whitewater Region, was arrested at the scene and faces the following Highway Traffic Act (HTA) and Criminal Code (CC) charges:

  • Driving while under suspension – HTA
  • Flight from police officer – CC

The accused was released on a promise to appear for the CC charge and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on October 1. A summons for the HTA charge was issued and the accused is scheduled to attend Provincial Offences Court in Pembroke on October 7. The driver’s vehicle was towed and impounded as a result of the incident.
