On Monday, Oct. 22, municipal elections throughout Ontario will take place. In Whitewater Region, you will be able to vote any time between Oct. 12 and Oct. 22.
In Whitewater Region, positions available are: Mayor (1); Reeve (1); Councillor (5); school board trustee — one each for Renfrew County District School Board, Renfrew County Catholic District School Board, Conseil des ecoles publiques de l’Est de l’Ontario (French public) and Conseil des ecoles du Centre-Est (French separate).
The unofficial list of candidates for the upcoming municipal election in Whitewater Region are, as of 7 a.m. Thursday, June 28:
Mayor: Harold (Hal) Johnson; Michael (Mike) Moore
Reeve: Cathy Regier; Joe Kowalski
Councillor: Charlene Jackson
Trustee — English Public — David (Dave) Frederick Shields
Trustee – English Separate – Anne Haley
Trustee – French Separate – Robert Lemelin

Those who would like to submit their names as candidates have until Friday, July 27 to submit nomination papers.
Those people who are eligible to vote will receive a notice in the mail providing instructions and a secure PIN number to use to vote by either internet or telephone between 10 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 12 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 22.
There will be no paper ballot on election day, however, there will be paper ballots at each of the four advanced polls, which are open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Saturday, Oct. 13 — Beachburg; Wednesday, Oct. 17 — Cobden; Thursday, Oct. 18 — Westmeath and Saturday, Oct. 20 — former Ross Township
