WESTMEATH – The WDRA throws a few darts every Friday, despite of a pandemic keeping them from organizing a dedicated league.

Locals who are looking to play play darts for $5 every Friday at 7pm go to the Westmeath Arena, in the upstairs section.

“We haven’t started a league, we couldn’t because of Covid-19” Beth Ethier of the Westmeath & District Recreation Association said, saying they’d been attempting to organize the event since the pandemic began in 2020.

After the Westmeath St. Patrick’s Day Dinner on Friday, March 18th, which served Irish stew to “over 100” according to the WDRA, the floor was opened to dart play.

The bar was available, and most attendees seemed to bring their own darts.

Ethier also said the WDRA was planning a Father’s Day Golf Tournament at the Cobden Oaks on the weekend of Sunday, June 19th.

“We’re looking for sponsors, donations, and prizes.” she said.
