Marie-Paule McMullen was presented with a “Lifetime Volunteer” award by WDRA President Brenda O’Grady during the Canada Day celebrations in Westmeath.
Marie-Paule and Jim McMullen raised a family of four with volunteerism and community being a core value of their family.
They emphasized the importance of investing in their local community by lending a helping hand and knowing how even the smallest contributions can make a significant difference.
Michelle, Melanie, Martin and Mark would absolutely agree and that these lessons were most importantly learned not only by doing but having the best person to lead and teach them – their Mom.
The whole family cherished many memories volunteering together over the years.
As for Marie, she was always ready to participate in special dinners, big breakfasts, and for special occasions.
Sometimes cooking tons of bacon and cleaning ovens in that kitchen.
She was also a long-time barkeeper, her fait accompli always having the right mix of beverages available for customers and an amazing recognition of remembering what drink individuals preferred.
Most often Marie is behind the bar at dances, weddings, and dart nights, greeting everyone with a warm smile and friendly conversation.
Thanks for making so many events in our community extra special.
Most of all, Marie’s longevity as a volunteer for the WDRA with Bingo Country is unsurpassed.
Marie-Paule McMullen’s contribution and cooperation in so many aspects in making events successful made her a likely recipient for the award.
