The Zion Line-Beachburg Women’s Institute donated a windchime and garden stone to Caressant Care Retirement Home in memory of Olive Hill and former members. The Hill family accepted the donations on behalf of Caressant Care. WHITEWATER REGION (Cobden) — Mansel Hill and his children – Nancy Broome, Don Hill, Bev Hill and Dick Hill — gathered near the gazebo at Caressant Care Retirement Home in Cobden to receive gifts in memory of Olive Hill, his wife and their mother, from the Zion Line-Beachburg Women’s Institute.

Ms. Hill was a long-time member of the Zion Line Women’s Institute, said Carol Leach. When Mr. and Mrs. Hill went into Caressant Care, they treated it as their home and Ms. Hill continued to host WI meetings, she said.

When the WI decided to honour Ms. Hill, along with other former members, it was decided wind chimes and a garden stone would be appropriate, Ms. Leach said.

Mr. Hill thanked everyone for attending the special ceremony.

“I appreciate you all coming here very, very much,” he said. “You can all come back and visit me again.”

Caressant Care staff have done much for him, and when his wife was alive, for her, he said.

It’s great the garden area will have wonderful sounding wind chimes and a beautiful patio stone.
