Greetings from the Women’s Institute for the District of North Renfrew.

The following branch has reported on their meeting and activities for the month of Jan. 2023.

Forester’s Falls: Six members met at the home of Betty Black at 1:30 P.M. on Jan. 23, 2023. President Betty welcomed everyone to the meeting.

The Roll Call –My favourite and least favourite commercial on TV. There were a variety of answers, but the common theme was that commercials eat up a great deal of time on programs, they are loud and the same ones are often repeated several times during a program which can be very annoying.

The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.

There was no correspondence.

It was decided the branch would donate to the Beachburg and Cobden Fairs for the year 2023.

Volunteer sheets were completed. The Fair List was discussed once again as well as plans for the District Quilt Raffle. The next meeting will be held on March 15, 2023.

Eleanor Waite was program convenor.

She distributed valentines to each member with instructions that they be mailed to a friend or shut in.

Betty Black had a reading “Recipe For a New Year”. Marion Horner had two humorous readings “Home Remedies” and “From an Old Mind”.

The W.I. display for the Cobden Fair in the 1930’s or 1940’s was also shared. It certainly emphasized how resourceful the ladies had to be during those depression and war years.

Betty Black won a prize for having a birthday close to Valentine’s Day. Cake, ice cream and a social time was enjoyed. Margaret Curry adjourned the meeting.
