UPPER OTTAWA VALLEY OPP RESPOND TO EMERGENCY ON LOCAL SNOWMOBILE TRAIL
PEMBROKE – At approximately 7 p.m. on Sunday, January 29, members of the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP, along with Renfrew County Paramedics and the Laurentian Valley Fire Department responded to an emergency call on the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs (OFSC) snowmobile trail between Henan Road and Highway 17 in Laurentian Valley Township.
Emergency responders were called to the scene after a 7-year-old girl who was a passenger fell off of a moving snowmobile that was being driven by her mother. The child’s arm became caught in the moving track resulting in her arm becoming wedged between the track and the body of the snow machine.
The child was freed from the snow machine by the Laurentian Valley Fire Department and transported to the hospital by the paramedics with minor injuries.
