COBDEN — Cheryl Gallant, MP for Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke, was pleased to visit the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 550 in Cobden, to announce $20,000 in funding from our Conservative Federal Government’s New Horizons for Seniors Program. The funding will go towards building renovations.
“I would like to thank Wayne Bennett for his work in preparing this application for the Legion,” stated MP Gallant. “This funding will help open the Cobden Legion to all seniors, so they can continue to stay active mentally, physical and socially in their retirements.”
The Cobden Legion plans to renovate washrooms, and widen a wheelchair access door to allow seniors to continue to attend social events such as dinner nights, cribbage nights, and their annual golf tournament.
Organizations that want to help seniors make a difference in the lives of others, and in their communities, are eligible to receive federal grants and contributions funding from The New Horizons program. For more information on the New Horizons for Seniors program, visit www.cherylgallant.com.
