OTTAWA — The local 4-H Rabbit Club of Renfrew County recently received a special invitation to perform their rabbit agility show at the Agricultural Museum in Ottawa on Easter Weekend.
It was a big undertaking for the leaders to organize a group of 12 members who would practice their rabbits once a week starting in March and be willing to give up their Good Friday as well as all day Saturday on Easter weekend.
This involved parents driving them to practice as well as committing to the same two days in Ottawa travelling back and forth.
Six vehicles went down loaded with 4-H members, rabbit cages and obstacles for the agility course.
There were 6,100 people through the gates on Good Friday at the working farm and another 3,000 on Saturday.
The rabbits had a bit of stage fright for the first of three shows on the Friday due to the large amount of people watching and didn’t perform as well as expected but got back to normal for the next five shows in the two days.
The shows were very popular with the young families and petting the rabbits afterwards was a thrill for many bunny fans. The rabbit agility show has been invited back anytime they want.
