WHITEWATER REGION (Westmeath) — On Thursday, November 16 the Muskrat Voyageurs Midget team will be playing Valley Storm in Westmeath at 8:30 p.m. The Voyageurs are participating in a district-wide fundraiser and donating the proceeds from the 50/50 to the Scheuneman Family.
Please come out to the Westmeath arena to support our fundraising efforts.
Just over two weeks ago, on Friday, October 27, Ben Scheuneman, a member of our Renfrew Hockey Family was in a catastrophic car accident that resulted in serious injuries. Ben was admitted to the ICU at Civic Hospital and remains in Critical Condition. Ben and his family will face significant expenses over the next 12 months and beyond.
Ben’s father Derek is the Vice President of District 5 executive. He and his family have spent years volunteering and participating in District 5 hockey.  Now our District 5 Hockey family would like to help Ben and his family by asking every team in our district to run a 50/50 draw with all proceeds being donated to the Scheuneman Family.
Funds raised will go towards the costs Ben’s family will incur in travel, lost time at work and to help to cover medical expenses. Given the injuries sustained by Ben and his prognosis, he will require extensive treatment and ongoing rehabilitation.
Thank you so much for your assistance and for helping to ease the burden on Ben and his family.
