50 drivers charged by OPP in area’s distracted driving campaign

The Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment of OPP recently wrapped up a week-long Distracted Driving campOPP Logoaign, which ran from March 12 to 18.

Over the course of the campaign officers kept a keen eye out for motorists who were using a cell phone while behind the wheel. During the week a total of 48 motorists were charged with using a hand-held electronic device while driving and two drivers were charged with careless driving which was distraction related.

As the Easter weekend approaches officers will be taking part in the OPP’s Easter Long Weekend Spring Seat Belt Campaign which runs from March 30 to April 2. Seat belts save lives. Buckle Up!
