FORESTERS FALLS — A successful fundraiser was held for the Whitewater Historical Society on Sunday at Ross Museum.
The third annual Art in the Garden was held with 14 vendors selling what they create, said organizer Lawrie Barton.
“It was not the resounding success with a lot of people coming out,” she said, noting only between 75 to 100 people attended. “The heat of the day kept people away.”
There were also five musicians who entertained the vendors and crowd — Ms. Barton along with Simon Tunley, Liz and Glen Pilatzke of Lake Dore and Marie Zettler. Bonnie McLaughlin, who was a vendor with husband Kent, also performed a hymn, Ms. Barton added.
“They were very casual performances,” she said. “It was really nice.”
What was disappointing to Ms. Barton was the lack of children who attended the event. There were children’s activities set up and the only ones who enjoyed them were her grandchildren.
Ms. Barton noted this was the third Art in the Garden she has organized and it will be her last. She has decided next year will be a year for her.
What was nice, was Monday morning she received a phone call from a vendor thanking her for the lovely event. But, that’s not going to sway her from her decision.
“2015 will be a time to take it easy,” she said. “It’s time to take time just for myself.”
