Peacefully at the Arnprior Hospital with loved ones by her side on Monday evening, September 1, 2014. Catharina Jeannetta Straathof of Arnprior passed away at the age of 81. Dear daughter of the late Cyprian deJong and the late Johanna Molenaar. Beloved wife, partner and best friend for over 55 years of Case. Dearly loved mother of Dick (Debra) and their children Angela, Katie and Martin; Tony (Colleen) and their children Adrian, Christina, Benedict, Matthew and Jeannette; Maggie Toguri (Jamie) and their children Joshua, Jenna and Aaron; Joan Wilson (Glenn) and their children Warren, Thomas and Julia; Theresa Straathof (Chris Rupar) and their children Nicholas, Erika and Allison; and John. Predeceased by an infant son, Cornelis Joseph in 1966. Loved sister of Ben (Mary), Anne (late Ina), Nico (Toos), Gerard (José), Sr. Trees deJong, Jenet deJong (late Sip), Ceceil vanDiepen (late Adrie), Hannie Straathof (Cor), Lenie deJong, Clara Bakker (Fred) and Maria vanCampen (Peter). Predeceased by brother, Antoon (Marie) and sister, Agnes Smits (Herman). Also survived by many nieces, nephews and other relatives overseas. Friends are invited to share their memories of Catharina with her family during visitation at the Pilon Family Funeral Home and Chapel Ltd., 50 John Street North, Arnprior on Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. only. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. John Chrysostom Church, Arnprior on Saturday afternoon, September 6 at 1 o’clock. Interment Malloch Road Cemetery. In memory of Catharina, a donation to the St. John Chrysostom Church Memorial Fund or the Partners in Caring Foundation of the Arnprior Hospital would be appreciated by the Straathof families. Ladies of the CWL will assemble at the funeral home for prayers on Friday evening at 6:30.
