COBDEN — The last day of the month will affect the careers of three municipal employees of Whitewater Region Township.
Annette Mantifel will be spending her final day as a township employee while Marsha Hawthorne and Erica Rice will be moving into their new positions at township hall.
Ms. Mantifel began her municipal career in the former Westmeath Township in 1992 as accounts payable clerk. She remained in that position following amalgamation into Whitewater Region Township. In 2005, she was promoted to deputy-treasurer and the promoted again to treasurer/deputy chief administrative officer in 2008.
On July 1, Ms. Mantifel begins her position as treasurer for the town of Petawawa.
Chief administrative officer Christine FitzSimons said Ms. Mantifel is thanked for her many years of dedicated service to the township.
In 2007 Ms. Hawthorne was hired as deputy-treasurer for the township and three years later Ms. Rice began her career with the township as receptionist/secretary. Her job title was changed in 2013 to administrative assistant.
The township relies on the strengths of its municipal administrative team, Ms. FitzSimons said. By promoting from within the township, new and challenging administrative opportunities will be offered to Ms. Hawthorne and Ms. Rice. These internal promotions will provide important continuity for the municipality, which is a complex corporation running on an $8 million budget, she said.
“I am very pleased that Marsha and Erica have both received well-deserved promotions,” Ms. FitzSimons said. “I am confident they will undertake their new responsibilities professionally and work closely with me and the rest of the administrative team to deal with the challenges of change.”
