RENFREW — The board of directors of Renfrew Fair have been busy lately finalizing plans for the 164th Renfrew Fair, September 5 to 9.
The fair will get off to a bang on Wednesday with the ever popular demolition derby.
Thursday night Wayne Rostad will perform on the main stage.
Friday night will see the Hunter Brothers perform their country songs.
Saturday night Sass Jordan will rock the stage.
The RCMP Musical Ride will perform on Sunday at 2 p.m. and have a meet and greet with the public immediately following their performance. This is your chance to get a picture taken with a rider and horse.
This year the fair will be a pay one price fair. The $20 per person admission includes all rides and Carter Shows are promising 24 rides including their new ferris wheel. The advance passes will still be available at a cost of $40 for five admissions, rides not included. Advance passes will be available for sale at the Armouries and our regular outlets until Friday, August 31st.
The Renfrew Fair is hosting a mechanical bull competition on the Friday evening. This will be a fundraising event where teams are entered to compete in the bull riding. The winning team with the best time will be given a percentage of the proceeds to donate to the charity of their choice. Each team will have four members and pay $100 to enter the competition. Teams that are pre-registered will receive free admittance to the fair on Friday night. You are encouraged to have a team name and dress up. This is a wonderful opportunity to support our community and local fair. When the competition is complete, everyone will have the opportunity to ride the bull for a fee. This event will help us raise some funds for the much needed cover over our cattle show ring. Please contact Judy at 613-432-5331 if you would like to enter a team for this fun event.
Entering flowers, garden produce, crafts, baking and children’s work in the Renfrew Fair is a very easy process. You need to purchase a $5 membership, $1for children which entitles you to enter as many articles as you wish. Entries are brought into the fair on the Tuesday night and then picked up Sunday evening. A friendly competition between families, friends and neighbours.
