WHITEWATER REGION (Haley Station) — The former rink property in Haley Station is up for sale.

It was cleaned up about three years ago, but nothing has been done with it, said Doug Schultz, chief building officer for Whitewater Region township. It is 1.8 acres in size

“It’s just sitting there vacant,” he said. “It would be a nice building lot.”

Chief Administrative Officer Robert Tremblay said it will be posted as surplus land and if there is no opposition to selling it, it will come back to council for discussion. It’s valued at $29,900, he noted.

CAO Tremblay noted it won’t be listed for sale, as there are numerous people who have already stated they would like to purchase the property. When it comes back to council for discussion, there will be a recommendation as to how to go about selling the property, he added. It could be sale by real estate agent or tender, he explained.

Councillor Daryl McLaughlin questioned if the road issue has been fixed.

“If we can get it fixed up, we can have another one of our messes cleaned up,” he said

Mr. Schultz said, “Daryl, we’ve been working on it, trying to get it straightened out. We’ve made some progress.”

Site plan agreement approved

The site plan agreement for GlassHouse Botanics Inc. at the Industrial Park has been agreed to by council.

On May 16, council agreed to the sale of land in the industrial park to GlassHouse Botancis, said Mr. Schultz. After three tries, the site plan agreement has been finalized to satisfaction, he added.

The main purpose of the site plan control is to achieve some control on the design, layout and/or features of a specific proposed development, he said.

Mr. Schultz said the company has already started the project, levelling off the ground.

“We’re getting closer to getting a building permit,” Mr. Schultz said.
