PEMBROKE — Blood donors in Renfrew County are invited to donate blood in honour of a local leukemia patient this winter.

Aspyn Caroll, 18, was diagnosed with leukemia in September 2017. Since her diagnosis, Aspyn has received over 50 blood and platelet transfusions. According to Aspyn’s mother Kerri, blood donation saved Aspyn’s life, and continues to save other patient lives every day.

On Tuesday, Feb. 19 in Pembroke a Mobile Blood Donor Centre will be held in honour of Aspyn. The Carroll Family will be at the centre welcoming donors and thanking them for their blood donations.

“Without blood and platelets my daughter would not be here 16 months later.” Mrs. Carroll said.

The clinic is from 1 to 4 p.m. and 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Germania Club in Pembroke, 15 Bennett Street.

Other blood donor clinics will be held at the Eganville Royal Canadian Legion on Monday, March 11 from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m.; Garrison Petawawa from 1 to 4 p.m. and 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 19 and at Bonnechere Manor in Renfrew on Tuesday, March 28 from 1 to 7 p.m.
