RENFREW COUNTY (Renfrew) — The Renfrew Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated 311 calls for service.

Domestic Violence

Arnprior and Renfrew officers investigated 6 domestic disputes during the past week.

One accused was charged with assault with a weapon, assault, mischief under $5000.00, and two counts of fail to comply with conditions of an undertaking.

Victim Services of Renfrew County is also available to provide emotional and practical assistance to people who have experienced domestic violence. Impaired Driving

On July 1, 2019 officers from the Renfrew OPP Detachment responded to a motor vehicle collision on Madawaska Boulevard in Town of Arnprior. As a result of the investigation Suzette COUSINEAU, 57 years old, of Ottawa has been charged with, impaired driving and operating a motor vehicle with over 80mg of alcohol. The accused was released on a Promise to Appear to attend at the Ontario Court of Justice in Renfrew on August 7, 2019.

On July 1, 2019 officers from the Renfrew OPP Detachment responded to a traffic complaint in Town of Arnprior. As a result of the investigation Gregory MARCELLUS, 63 years old, of Arnprior has been charged with, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, impaired driving and operating a motor vehicle with over 80mg of alcohol. The accused was released on a Promise to Appear to attend at the Ontario Court of Justice in Renfrew on August 7, 2019.

On July 7, 2019 officers from the Renfrew OPP were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E) initiative in the Town of Arnprior. As a result of a vehicle stop, Joshua RATHWELL, 28 years old of Limerick Township has been charged with operating a motor vehicle with over 80mg of alcohol. The accused was released on a Promise to Appear to attend at the Ontario Court of Justice in Renfrew on
August 7, 2019.

On July 7, 2019 officers from the Renfrew OPP Detachment responded to a traffic complaint in McNab/Braeside Township. As a result of the investigation Judith KITTNER, 56 years old, of McNab/Braeside Township has been charged with, impaired driving and operating a motor vehicle with over 80mg of alcohol. The accused was released on a Promise to Appear to attend at the Ontario Court of Justice in Renfrew on August 7, 2019. 

Assault

On July 06, 2019 officers with the Renfrew OPP Detachment responded at an assault call in the Town of Arnprior. As a result of an investigation Richard HARTWICK, 53 years old of McNab/Braeside Township has been charged with assault cause bodily harm. The accused was released on a Promise to Appear to attend at the Ontario Court of Justice in Renfrew on August 21, 2019.

Bail Violations 

On July 1, 2019 an officer with the Renfrew OPP Detachment was conducting traffic enforcement in the Town of Renfrew. As a result of a traffic stop Brandon MCCANNA, 35 years old of Renfrew has been charged with fail to comply with conditions of an undertaking and two counts of mischief. The accused was held for a bail hearing on July 2, 2019 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke.

On July 5, 2019 officers from the Renfrew OPP Detachment responded to a traffic hazard call in White Water Region Township. As a result of an investigation Mathieu GOULET, 34 years old of White Water Region Township has been charged with fail to comply with an undertaking. The accused was released on a Promise to Appear to attend at the Ontario court of Justice in Pembroke on August 21, 2019.

On July 5, 2019 officers with the Renfrew OPP Detachment responded to a dispute in the Town of Arnprior. As a result of an investigation Joshua GOURLAY, 35 years old of Arnprior has been charged with breach of recognizance. The accused was released on a Promise to Appear to attend at the Ontario Court of Justice in Renfrew on
August 7, 2019.

Vehicle Fire

On July 3, 2019 officers with the Renfrew OPP responded to a vehicle fire near Leo Lavoie Road in the Town of Arnprior. The investigation is continuing. The vehicle involved was a black 2009 Dodge Journey. Anyone who may have seen this vehicle in the area or who has information about this fire is asked to contact the Renfrew OPP.

Mischief

On July 05, 2019 officers from the Renfrew OPP Detachment responded to a dispute call in the Town of Renfrew. As a result of an investigation Curtis STROUD, 34 years old, of Renfrew has been charged with resist peace officer and mischief under $5000.00.
The accused was held for a bail hearing on July 7, 2019.

Traffic Enforcement

On July 6, 2019 an officer with the Renfrew OPP was conducting traffic enforcement on Highway 17, in Horton Township. As a result of a traffic stop Steven GRIMES, 41 years old of Ottawa has been charged under the Criminal Code with operation while prohibited, obstruct a peace officer and personation with intent to avoid arrest, prosecution or obstruct justice. The accused was issued an appearance notice to attend at the Ontario Court of Justice in Renfrew on August 7, 2019.

The accused was further issued a summons for the following charges under the Highway Traffic Act; driving while under suspension, fail to identify self and race a motor vehicle, excessive speed. The accused will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Renfrew on August 16, 2019.
