RENFREW COUNTY (Renfrew) — The County of Renfrew Long-Term Care Homes, Bonnechere Manor and Miramichi Lodge, recently launched the Butterfly Approach, an approach that enhances the quality of life for residents living with dementia. The “Living Your Best Life” fundraisers are taking place in the Renfrew Rotary Hall at Bonnechere Manor on Wednesday April 1 and Thursday April 2 in the Miramichi Lodge Community Centre, both from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

The “Living Your Best Life” fundraisers will support some of the costs to implement the Butterfly Approach. Shelley Sheedy, County of Renfrew Director of Long-Term Care, explains that one of the biggest costs will be the renovations required to reduce a current dementia unit size into two smaller more home-like households.

Ms. Lainy Boldt-Johnson, Fundraising Coordinator for the long-term care homes, emphasizes the tremendous value of the Living Your Best Life tickets which are $75 each, “not only is this an opportunity to enhance the lives of our most vulnerable population, but this fundraising event will also feature a champagne reception, hors d’oeuvres catered by Ullrich’s on Main and served by local VIPs, silent auction, a copy of Darci Lang’s book, swag bags, Beauty Bar and more. And, our guests will be provided with a charitable tax receipt.”

Back by popular demand is guest speaker and national best-selling author, Darci Lang. Ms. Lang has written a new book:  “Living the 90% – 9 Ways to Be Happier.” Darci states that “Where we focus our magnifying glass makes all the difference, and this small shift is the key to a happier and more fulfilling life.”

Tickets can be purchased online through Eventbrite, as well as at the reception desk of either Home. Please note that this event is for over 19 years of age. Those who purchase their tickets before March 15 will have their name entered into a draw for two tickets to their choice of either of the upcoming Home Galas; a prize valued at $250.

Ms. Boldt-Johnson notes there is also an opportunity to sponsor the features, donate a silent auction item, contribute to the swag bags, or make a donation towards the implementation of the Butterfly Approach.
