Friends we are gathered here to honour the memory of our dear sister Kathy – whom the lord in his loving kindness has called back home to dwell in his presence forever.
Without complaint, gentle Kathy endured a lengthy affliction and showed strength of character – she did not falter – she never lost faith – nor did her courage diminish despite many trials and tribulations – and thereby was shown the indomitable spirit of her ancient Irish ancestry.
Through every challenge, there by Kathy’s side, stood her beloved William – whose gentle touch ministered to her every need night and day – and it was his devotion to the woman he cherished – and the love they shared for each other – that gave Kathy the extra time they shared which none other than he could have provided.
From the beginning William had the compassionate and support of his mother Gwen and father Murray – his brothers Chris / Randy / Rick and their wives – Nicky / Angela / Connie.
William and Kathy also had the support of their two dear friends Lee Anne and Rick – who stood ever at the ready for both of them.
When Kathy was in the hospital and the end drew nigh, friends attended to say their farewells – while William’s family kept a constant vigil at her bedside until she peaceably passed away.
Friends there are times when we have to endure trying circumstances – the reasons for which are sometimes difficult to comprehend – and they can test our faith to the point of questioning why God allows them – but we can take solace from the words of Jesus who told us  “In the world you will have travail – but fear not for I have overcome the world” (John Ch.16 – Vs. 33)
Jesus also told us to “fight the good fight” and to “love not your lives to the end” and he promised that for all those who do fight the good fight and do endure to the end these he would reward and unto them would he grant life everlasting.
Friends Kathy did fight the good fight – Kathy did endure to the end – and now she has gone before us to await the time appointed – when we also shall be called home to share with her those crystal living waters – that flow from beneath the throne of glory in the garden of our Lord.
Throughout her trials Kathy took comfort knowing she was much loved – and thus regardless of the circumstances a wink from William always brought a smile to her face and a sparkle to her eyes – and it was this response from Kathy that inspired his selfless devotion to the very end.
May God grant unto our sister Kathy his eternal rest – and may she be accorded the peace of Jesus Chris that surpasses all understanding.
May our brother William  be consoled by the certainty of his reunion with the woman he loves in the kingdom to come –  and may all who mourn gentle Kathy’s passing be comforted as well.
Friends it is not God who is causing all the tribulation in our world – instead it’s a fallen angel who seeks only to kill and destroy – whom Jesus will defeat with the brightness of his coming along with death and suffering – after which he will rule as the King of Kings and Lord of Lord’s forever.
