WHITEWATER REGION (Beachburg) — Youth from throughout the area are invited to participate in two activities that will keep them in shape during the winter months.
The Westmeath District Recreation Association (WDRA) is hosting Youth Yoga and Multi-Sport Sessions.
Daryl-Lisa Oldham from Whitewater Yoga has partnered with the WDRA to provide yoga to youth age six to 11 years old.
There are six scheduled Tuesdays – Feb. 13, 20 and 27 and March 6, 20 and 27. Each session is from 5:15 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. at the Beachburg Public School gym.
The cost is $45 per child with additional siblings at $35. The youth must be registered by Feb. 6. There must be between 15 and 20 participants for the yoga classes to be held.
The multi-sport sessions will be lead by instructor Gerry Benoit and will focus on different indoor team sports, such as basketball, ball hockey, soccer and dodgeball. There will be skill introduction, athletic development specific to that sport as well as the opportunity to play the sport.
The sessions are Wednesday evenings: Feb. 21 and 28 and March 7 and 21 at the Beachburg Public School gym. Youth aged six to nine will play from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. and those aged 10 to 13 will play from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The cost is $15 per participant and registration must be completed by February 14. Twelve to 20 participants are required.
