Whitewaternews.ca is growing!
On June 11, 2014, the first issue of whitewaternews.ca was delivered to area stores and went online.
Publisher Joe Kowalski and editor Connie Tabbert are happy with how the paper has been accepted. We are almost at 600 subscribers. We wonder who the 600th subscriber will be!
Each week I deliver about 10 copies of whitewaternews.ca to four stores – Annie’s in Foresters Falls, Sears in Cobden, BeachWest Pharmacy in Beachburg and Kenny’s in Westmeath – and five copies to the General Store in LaPasse. I know residents want more copies out there and I understand because I too like to read a paper copy of a newspaper. We’ll see what we can do in the future.
As the editor of the paper, I have the fun job of attending various community events and meetings. Unfortunately, when I started this venture, I was working as a cashier at Wal-Mart, a job I came to really enjoy. Do you know how many people you know you meet at WalMart? And I remind you, have patience when you go there – it’s always busy.
However, after less than a year, I have handed in my blue vest and badge. I have realized in the last couple of weeks, I am missing many events due to my cashier’s schedule and the paper is starting to suffer. It was an easy decision to make as to which job I would quit, but I will miss many of my co-workers.
Now, onto bigger and better things.
As of this week, whitewaternews.ca will begin accepting advertising. I have had business people, from the time they learned of whitewaternews.ca saying they’d like to advertise and now here’s your chance.
For now the ads will be at the bottom of each page. The cost is $25 per spot, which is 3.5 inches wide and 2 inches deep.
We don’t have a graphic designer, so it will be me putting the ads together. I ask that you send all information to [email protected]. This is something new for me so please be patient. If you can send your ad in a pdf format, that would be best for me to start with.
We also recently added a community calendar to our online edition. If you are registered for whitewaternews.ca you can add your own event. However, if you prefer not to go that route, you can still email me, [email protected] and I will add your event.
Remember, your opinion is important to us, so letters to the editor for publication are accepted. Or, if you just want to tell us something, please do so.
I look forward to attending more events now that I have more time. Please keep me informed of what’s happening in our Whitewater Region Township.
