Bob Grylls and Cathy Williamson want to ensure people know, and attend, next Monday's All Candidates Meeting in Beachburg.

WHITEWATER REGION (Beachburg) — The Westmeath Recreation & District Association is hosting an All Candidates Meeting to allow the electorate an opportunity to meet the people who could represent them on the Township of Whitewater Region council over the next four years.  Beachburg was the location chosen for this event since other sessions have been scheduled in Cobden and Westmeath during October.

Thirteen candidates are vying for the five councillor seats; two candidates are running for Mayor and two for Reeve.

The Heritage Hall was donated by the Heritage Committee for the evening and the large sign in mid-town to advertise the event was donated by the Beachburg Fair Committee.

“Thanks to both groups for providing this opportunity for our people to come to know the team that will form their next government,” said organizer Bob Grylls. “We encourage all of voting age to come out and bring forward the issues that the new council needs to know are the concerns for the people of Whitewater Region.”

All candidates were sent an email inviting them to participate – and all have indicated they will be in attendance, he noted.

Brenda Grady, President of the WDRA, will welcome everyone to the meeting and introduce the two monitors who will direct the questions to the candidates: Cindy Jamieson, owner of Jamieson Travel in Beachburg and Daniel James of Foresters Falls, a member of the Municipal Athletic Association and president of the Foresters Falls Recreation Association.

Following short speeches from each candidate, questions and issues will come from the floor. Everyone is encouraged to attend this important event for our community, Mr. Grylls said.
