COBDEN — The annual Cobden Community Players live performance at the Cobden Agricultural Hall is this weekend.
Allocating Annie is a comedy, mystery that involves a baby, romance and penquins, said Lawrie Barton, director as well as one of the actors.
“Romances evolve in surprising ways,” she said of the two-and-a-half-hour production.
Allocating Annie is live on stage Friday and Saturday evenings starting at 7:30 p.m. with a matinee on Sunday at 2 p.m.
Along with enjoying a great night of laughter, Ms. Barton said those going Friday and Saturday evening’s performances can enjoy a dinner first. As well, there will be entertainment before each of the nightly productions.
Friday night is a roast beef dinner provided by parishioners of Grace United Church while St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church parishioners provide a ham dinner Saturday evening.
Pre-play entertainment, 6:45 to 7:15 p.m., Friday is the Lake Dore Gang and same time Saturday is the Leahy Cousins featuring the Donohue-Enright families.
Play proceeds Friday and Saturday goes to local charities while Sunday’s proceeds go to Guatemala projects.
The play is $12 for adults and $6 for those 12 and under while for the dinner, it is $13 and $7 for children 12 and under.
Ms. Barton said, “It’s a great evening with laughter, which is always good for the soul. Come for dinner, which is food for your tummy and then enjoy a serving of laughing for the soul.”
The cast is excellent this year, as it is most years, she said. Cast members are Lawrie Barton, Ted Richardson, Crystal Leach, Keith Sparling, Shirley Hill, Shirley Ullrich and Doug Schauer with support from Bea Richardson and sound and lighting person Gordon Thom.
