The Council of the Township of Whitewater Region approved an agreement with the Township of Bonnechere Valley for animal control services (animal pick up).

Clerk Carmen Miller said that they entered into a partnership with Bonnechere valley to pick up stray dogs, and that it would cost a $25 administration fee and an hourly rate of $25 an hour up to four hours for the pickup.

She said that there was a $3000 line item of funds in the budget for these costs.

Councillor McLaughlin asked if the cost will be passed onto the owner of the stray dogs.

CAO Trembley said that “if we can find the owner, we can pass the charges onto them. That being said, that $3000 will cover the fees, and we have updated the by-law to cover fines for dogs running free.”

The motion was carried.
