PEMBROKE — The Renfrew County Antique Tractor Square Dancing Club is polishing their dancing tires as they kick off a transition into new leadership with a $2,887 donation to the Pembroke Regional Hospital Foundation.

Performing at plowing matches, fairs and tractor shows across Ontario, the Club started in 1999, with membership consisting primarily of local farmers with an aptitude towards the tractor dancing arts.

Club member Peter DeRuiter fondly recalled his experience with the Club.

“On our antique tractors, we would promenade, spin, and make a mess out of a field real quick… it’s a wonder we never wrecked a tractor,” he said.

On the Club’s donation to support their regional hospital, Mr. DeRuiter said, “We just want to give back to the community. After all, everybody’s going to need to go to the hospital sooner or later.”
