RENFREW COUNTY (Pembroke) — On September 27, at approximately 9:30 p.m., members of the Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to an alarm at a jewellery retailer in the east-end of Pembroke. Police discovered the business had been broken into and the suspect had fled prior to police arrival. OPP’s Forensic Identification Services (FIS), Emergency Response Team (ERT) and Canine Unit (K9) also responded to the scene. The suspect was not located at the time.
On October 1, as a result of this investigation, OPP’s Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) arrested and charged 29-year-old Justin Stirling Guindon of Pembroke with the following Criminal Code (CC) offence:
- Break, enter and commit an indictable offence
The accused was held for a bail hearing and remains in custody until their next court date on October 4 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke. Further charges are pending against the accused after OPP’s CSCU and ERT executed a CC search warrant in Pembroke in relation to this incident on October 2.
The investigation is continuing and a quantity of jewellery, including gold chains and gold crosses, remains outstanding in this case.
