On Wednesday, May 2, Cst. Shawn Peever of the Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment of the OPP participated in the McHappy Day event at the McDonald’s restaurant in the City of Pembroke. While at the event police located and arrested a subject wanted in connection with several unsolved hamburger thefts in the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP detachment area. The notorious burger thief known as “The Hamburglar” was taken into police custody without incident. He was released unconditionally a short time later after making a donation to McHappy Day and professing his rehabilitation. The Hamburglar is Community Living Ambassador Josh Woermke, who volunteers his time as mascot for other community organizations in the Pembroke area.
