WHITEWATER REGION — With the current COVID-19 outbreak and the economic impact it may have, Ottawa River Power (ORP) is offering different options to their customers.

The provincial winter disconnection ban will be extended by an additional three months. The ban, originally scheduled to end on April 30, is now extended to July 31. All of their small business and commercial customers will be included in this disconnection ban. There will also be no account collection action until July 31.

Customers are asked to contact their office to discuss payment options. If you require financial assistance, programs are still available to help. The Low-Income Energy Assistance Program (LEAP) is a year-round emergency financial assistance program developed by the Ontario Energy Board (OEB) to assist low-income energy customers who may be experiencing difficulty payment current arrears.

The Ontario Electricity Support Program (OESP) is another option for customers. If you are in a lower-income home, you may qualify for a reduction on your electricity bill. The OESP will reduce the cost of your household electricity by applying a monthly credit directly to your bill. The credit amount will depend on how many people live in your home and your combined household income.
