RENFREW — The Ontario Provincial Police are asking for the public’s help to identify a man who attempted to rob a convenience store in Renfrew around 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday night, July 27.
According to police, a man entered a Mac’s located at 367 Raglan St. South, walked up to the cash and asked to buy a package of cigarettes. The man failed to specify a brand. When asked to clarify his request, he changed his mind and demanded all of the cash in the till.
The cashier refused to open the till and told the man he would be calling police. The man continued to demand money, but was denied. He eventually left the store empty-handed on foot.
No one was injured as a result of the incident.
Police are seeking a white male, between the ages of 20 and 40 with dark facial hair. He was last seen wearing rubber boots, jeans, sunglasses with a white plastic frame and a black long-sleeved hoodie.
He was also wearing an orange safety T-shirt, similar to the kind worn at construction sites, over the hoodie with a bright yellow “X” across the back. The shirt had black writing that said “LiUNA 527” on the back. The man was last seen wearing a black baseball hat and was carrying a reusable shopping bag.
Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to call 1-888-310-1122.
