BEACHBURG — Paige Knechtel returned home with some hefty hardware from the Ottawa Highland Dancing Association competition held this past Saturday.
She won overall trophy for Novice 13 and over group and earned her third stamp on her card for Novice.
In the individual dance competitions, Paige placed first in lilt, second in fling and in sword and third in Sean Triubhas.
Paige, 16, dances with her teacher Michelle Burgess at Starz in Motion in Petawawa.
She has been competing in Highland for 18 months, but started dancing Highland two-and-a-half years ago.
Paige enjoys all types of dance and has been dancing with Starz In Motion for 10 years.
Paige loves the artistry of dance and the hard work it takes to accomplish getting a routine or dance ready for competition
She began Highland because she took a summer dance camp and was able to try learning some of the intricate steps. She fell in love with it and began taking lessons that fall.
She is a student at Fellowes High School in Pembroke.
She lives in Beachburg and is the daughter of Mike and Debbie Knechtel.
