WHITEWATER REGION (Beachburg) — A Beachburg man is dead following a two-vehicle collision on Beachburg Road near Pappin Road Saturday morning, Oct. 14, shortly after 11 o’clock.
Upper Ottawa Valley OPP officers and firefighters from Whitewater Region responded to the scene.
Harold Carson Alport, 73, of Beachburg, was travelling westbound in a pickup truck. A 38-year-old female driver and her 11-year-old passenger were travelling eastbound in a passenger car. The two vehicles collided. Beachburg Road was closed for several hours between Pappin and Fletcher roads.
Mr. Alport was ejected from the truck and died at the scene. The two people in the car were taken to hospital by ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries.
The accident is still under investigation by the OPP and OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators.
Whitewater Region firefighters from Station 1 (Haley Station), Station 2 (Cobden) and Station 4 (Beachburg) responded to the emergency call-out. Acting Fire Chief Guy Longtin said firefighters were on scene for about an hour extricating one person trapped in the car and doing road clean-up.
Mr. Alport’s daughter, Crystal, said her father had a great sense of humour and was a kind man. She said her father was born and raised in Petawawa, but called Beachburg home for the last 36 years. He spent his life in the construction sector and worked on projects across Ontario.
