Berlin to Fulda, Germany

Well I can say I officially drove on the autobahn!! I didn’t even realize it until we were in Fulda – LOL. While leaving Berlin and before we headed onto some amazingly curvy roads we were riding the autobahn for 180 km or so – thank goodness it was Sunday morning and the traffic wasn’t too bad. There were some that were fast but I didn’t find it any different really than our highways at home. But officially “drove it”.

After leaving the autobahn we headed onto some two lane roads with rolling hills and nice corners. Truly a treat as we came around out of the woods and corners to wide open fields filled with crops. Then the little hamlets that we had to slow down to 50 km in with very narrow streets and sharp corners throughout. It was absolutely fantastic. I could not get enough of it. The second man drop worked fabulous today and no one was lost in our group today as we split up into smaller groups and will continue to do so for the rest of the trip.

We had a difficult time finding a place to eat lunch as many spots did not want to cater to such a big group but we were able to find a beautiful place that must have been an old mill at one point. They were most accommodating and the food was fabulous.

We arrived in Fulda around 5:30 or 6:00 with enough time to have a shower and a cold glass of beer! And actually both were cold as it was so hot today again I had a cold shower to cool off. We then walked to the dealer which was about a 25 min to 30 min walk from the hotel but it was a beautiful night with great company. All the people that I have met and have spent some time with are amazing. Scottish, British, French, Belgium, and of course USA and Canada as well. Lots of laughs and lots of story telling about all the great rides people have done. I have been invited to Scotland and I might just have to take them up on that invitation some day!

The BBQ was delicious and the beer was cold. It is amazing at all these dealerships that they have bars right inside the store – and great bars too – somewhere where you would love to hang out in.

Tomorrow we get to sleep in a bit and don’t have to be on the road until 10:30. So that is awesome as I could use a little sleep. It is 11:50 pm Germany time and it is time to hit the hay! Looking forward to tomorrow with more curves and great scenery.
