(PETAWAWA, ON) – The Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police is currently investigating the theft of two BMX bicycles from a residence on Sandstone Crescent in the Town of Petawawa. The thefts occurred in the early morning hours of June 28, 2019 after the unlocked bicycles were left outside overnight. The stolen bicycles are described as follows:

  • 2019 Kink brand BMX – Curb model, blue in colour
  • Kink brand BMX – Launch model, bronze in colour

With summer here more would-be thieves may be out walking the streets looking for crimes of opportunity and an unlocked bicycle can be an invitation to thieves. Bike owners are reminded to lock up their bikes and secure them in a garage if possible. Police recommend documenting the serial number and having a photo of the bicycle in the event the bicycle is stolen.  Locking up should also be applied to your home, garage, sheds and out-buildings. Lock it or Lose it!

Anyone with information regarding the bicycle thefts is asked to contact the Petawawa Detachment of the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP at 613-735-0188 or Pembroke/Renfrew County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or www.valleytips.ca.
