BEACHBURG — Saturday, May 13, 2017 will be another busy day in Beachburg. The Beachburg Off-Road Cycling Association (BORCA) is hold its 7th annual “Spring Chicken” Mountain Bike Race, which starts at the Beachburg Fairgrounds with a “neutral start” of the cyclists down the Main Street of Beachburg.
More than 200 registrants will take part in the “Spring Chicken” which includes two bike race categories: a 27-km mountain bike and a 60-km mountain bike race. There will also be two trail run categories: 27-km or 60-km, and a Kids’ “Chicken Chase” event which will see more than 50 kids take part in this unique, fun, yet challenging race. Cameron Dube, Director of BORCA, says, “The BORCA Team is extremely excited to witness the growth of the “Spring Chicken” in just seven years and BORCA can now boast it’s the biggest unsanctioned mountain bike race in Ontario.
“Participants from all over Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick and northern US take part in this race and the feedback is tremendous,” he added. “Of course, there would be no race without the support of our community volunteers, donors and our local landowners.”
