PEMBROKE – Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke MP Cheryl Gallant notes that the Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) Program is officially accepting applications for summer 2019.
“The Canada Summer Jobs program provides employers the chance to create much-needed summer job opportunities for young Canadians, while strengthening our local economies and communities,” said MP Gallant. “These summer jobs allow for youth to gain experience, learn new skills, and make connections with the business community.”
Fopportunities are available to all not-for-profit organizations, public-sector employers and small businesses with less than 50 staff. Applicants must create summer job opportunities for young people aged 15 to 30 years. A change this year is that the program is open to all people aged 15-30, and is no longer limited to just students.
“Also changed in the CSJ program this year is the removal of last year’s controversial attestation question for applications,” MP Gallant noted. “I would like to thank businesses, local organizations, and community groups whose work in making their displeasure with the attestation known helped lead to the question’s removal.”
The Canada Summer Jobs program application period began on December 17 and applications will only be accepted until January 25th, 2019. Applicants can apply online, in person at any Service Canada, or by mail.
