Cat feces a problem on La Passe Road

WHITEWATER REGION (near Beachburg) — Cat feces on La Passe Road are becoming a concern, the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP were called in.

The OPP is seeking assistance from the public to help solve a littering issue that was reported to police on Monday, April 8. Police say someone is dumping bags of cat feces along La Passe Road between Lookout Road and Pleasant Valley Road in Whitewater Region. Information from Whitewater Region suggests the problem has been ongoing.

Under the Highway Traffic Act it is an offence to litter a highway, and the offence carries a total fine of $110. Pet owners are reminded that pet waste should be disposed of in their regular garbage.

  1. The Whitewater News of April 11 reported an incident of cat faces littering the Lapasse Road. The seriousness of this situation has evidently resulted in an OPP investigation into this obvious littering offence. Indeed, the public is encouraged to come forward with any information leading to the identification those involved. Interestingly, this same stretch of road is annually covered with a thick slime of cow manure and mud resulting from local farm activity, which seemingly goes unreported as an offence at all. I think the timing of this report is a bit late for April 1st.
