PEMBROKE – Renfrew County and District Health Unit (RCDHU) in collaboration with the Renfrew County Catholic District School Board (RCCDSB), is confirming that a student at Cathedral Catholic Elementary School in Pembroke has a positive laboratory-confirmed case of novel coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) on March 31.

All students and staff who have been deemed to be a close contact of the positive case, have been given direction to go home immediately to self-isolate and arrange for testing.

The school remains open for in-person learning.

RCDHU is working closely with the RCCDSB to ensure necessary measures continue to be in place to protect all staff, children and the public.

RCDHU staff is actively investigating the case and all high risk contacts will receive a standard text message from the RCDHU virtual assistant and called by Public Health Ontario within 24 hours, notifying them that they have recently been exposed to COVID-19.

All high risk contacts will be directed to complete the virtual assistant survey to complete contact tracing.
