A 35-year-old man is facing two charges of animal cruelty after a Society for the Prevention of Cruelty of Animal officer was called to a farm in Pembroke.
Investigators say a dairy cow was found with injuries to its hind leg from a large, iron ice chopper.
The man is accused of kicking the cow multiple times in the stomach when it attempted to kick while being milked. He then struck the cow in the leg multiple times with a large iron ice chopper, causing a visible injury. When the cow kicked out again, he struck the cow in the same place on the leg again, causing further injury.
The man, whose name was not released, appeared in Pembroke court, but Whitewater News does not have information as to what occurred.
