Councillor Mackay opposed the $75 fee for the chicken license, which was for inspection, and is based on the fee for kennels and fire inspections. He also raised concerns with the kennels being capped at 12 dogs, which Trembley suggested to amend to simply say “4 or more dogs”.

Councillor Nicholson proposed changes to the by-law so it did not list limited on the number of adult dogs, citing other restrictions and inspections to keep problems from arising.

It was motioned by Councillor Olmstead and seconded by Councillor Mackay. The motion was carried for the amendment.

Nicholson also suggested a taskforce to define kennel quality standards.

The by-law as amended was carried. A motion was askedto bring back 5.14 to vote on the user fee. Councillor Olmstead and Councillor Nicholson motioned and the motion was carried by vote.
