WHITEWATER REGION (Cobden) — On August 2, the Cobden Civitan Club held its 24th annual golf tournament in support of health care in the community. There were 214 golfers, many of whom return to participate year after year. Some have played in all 24 tournaments. The support from the community is always amazing.

There were 64 hole sponsors, donating $6700 to this fundraiser, along with many other local businesses donating prizes and silent auction items.

The Civitan Club donated $12,000 to health care that day. Pembroke Regional Hospital, Renfrew Victoria Hospital and Hospice Renfrew each received $3000. The Whitewater-Bromley Community Health Centre received $2500 and our own medical bank revived $500 to update equipment, such as wheelchairs, walkers and bath aids that we loan to the community.

The food was great as many of the golfers noted, the weather was beautiful and we had lots of volunteer help.

The Cobden Civitan Club wishes to send thanks to all who made this such a great success. We are already looking forward to our 25th next year.
