RENFREW COUNTY (Renfrew) — With warmer weather coming, the Renfrew Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) would like to remind the public of the extension of the Declaration of Emergency. This extension includes the closure of outdoor recreation amenities.
No person shall enter or use the following outdoor recreational amenities except for a maintenance, safety, law enforcement or other similar purposes: all outdoor playgrounds, play structures and equipment; all outdoor sports facilities and multi-use facilities including baseball diamonds, soccer fields, frisbee gold locations, tennis, platform tennis, table tennis and pickle ball courts, basketball courts, BMX parks, and skate parks; all off-leash dog parks; all portions of parks and recreational areas containing outdoor fitness equipment; all outdoor allotment gardens and community gardens; and all outdoor picnic sites, benches and shelters in park and recreational areas.
Outdoor recreational amenities listed above that are intended for use of more than one family are closed, regardless whether they are public or privately owned, for example play structures at a condominium or apartment building. Walking through or using park or recreational areas that are not otherwise closed, for example green spaces and walking pathways, would continue to be permitted but individuals must maintain the safe physical distance of at least two metres apart from others, unless they are members of the same household.
Ontario’s provincial parks and conservation reserves remain closed.
