Members and guests of the Cobden and District Civitan Club gathered Saturday night to celebrate the 42nd Charter Night of the club in the upstairs hall of the Cobden Legion. President Kevin Lamorie reviewed some of the club’s volunteer works for the past year, such as working at bingos, helping out at the Cobden Fair, cleaning the Cobden Park and hosting an ice fishing derby. Several service year pins were presented. The three charter members were also recognized as were two individuals with special recognition. Elmer Winters received the Citizen of the Year award; Cindy Lamorie was voted Civitan of the Year and the three charter members, Ted Barron, Don Helferty and John Mains were recognized. Mr. Mains has been the treasurer since he took on the position 42 years ago.
