WHITEWATER REGION (Cobden) — In 20 years, the Terry Fox Run held in Cobden has raised $112,154.

This year, the 60 participants raised close to $5,000. Organizer Bonnie Helferty said all the money hasn’t come in, but is sure it will be close to the $5,000.

“Our numbers were down,” she said. “We usually have around 95 to 100, and we were down to about 60,” she said.

The very hot and humid weather was most likely the cause for the lower number, Ms. Helferty said.

However, she’s not discouraged.

“I’m happy with the funds raised,” she said. “That is fantastic.  Thank you to all the folks, kids and pets who came out on such a hot, hot day.”
